Theme: BOUNDLESS FREEDOM
Readings from the Bible:
1) Ps. 147:5
The Bible Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
2) Ps. 51:10, 12
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. ... Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
3) Ps. 72:7
In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
4) II Thess. 3:1 brethren (to 5th ,)
... brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, ...
5) Jonah 1:4 there, 10 (to 1st ,), 12 I, 15, 17 And
... there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. ... Then were the men exceedingly afraid, ... ... I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. ... So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging. ... ... And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
6) Jonah 2:1, 2, 4–10
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. ... Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. ¶ And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
7) Jonah 3:1, 2, 5, 10 (to 1st ;)
And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. ... ... ¶ So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. ... ... ¶ And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; ...
8) II Cor. 6:2 behold
... behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
9) Matt. 3:8
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
10) Matt. 9:10–12 it, 20–22
... it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. ... ... ¶ And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
11) Acts 19:1 (to :), 4, 5, 7–10
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: ... Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ... And all the men were about twelve. And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
12) Acts 28:8, 9
And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
13) John 8:32 ye
... ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Readings from Science and Health:
1) SH 45:16 (only)
and correlative passages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts!
2) SH 227:16
God made man free. Paul said, “I was free born.” All men should be free. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Love and Truth make free, but evil and error lead into captivity.
3) SH 191:16, 24–25, 28
The human thought must free itself from self-imposed materiality and bondage. It should no longer ask of the head, heart, or lungs: What are man's prospects for life? Mind is not helpless. Intelligence is not mute before non-intelligence. ... The Science of being reveals man and immortality as based on Spirit. ... The illusive senses may fancy affinities with their opposites; but in Christian Science, Truth never mingles with error. Mind has no affinity with matter, and therefore Truth is able to cast out the ills of the flesh. Mind, God, sends forth the aroma of Spirit, the atmosphere of intelligence. The belief that a pulpy substance under the skull is mind is a mockery of intelligence, a mimicry of Mind.
4) SH 67:14, 25
Hoping and working, one should stick to the wreck, until an irresistible propulsion precipitates his doom or sunshine gladdens the troubled sea. ... The lack of spiritual power in the limited demonstration of popular Christianity does not put to silence the labor of centuries. Spiritual, not corporeal, consciousness is needed. Man delivered from sin, disease, and death presents the true likeness or spiritual ideal.
5) SH 481:2–4
Man is tributary to God, Spirit, and to nothing else. God's being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss.
6) SH 39:18
“Now,” cried the apostle, “is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation,” — meaning, not that now men must prepare for a future-world salvation, or safety, but that now is the time in which to experience that salvation in spirit and in life. Now is the time for so-called material pains and material pleasures to pass away, for both are unreal, because impossible in Science. To break this earthly spell, mortals must get the true idea and divine Principle of all that really exists and governs the universe harmoniously. This thought is apprehended slowly, and the interval before its attainment is attended with doubts and defeats as well as triumphs.
7) SH 598:19
YEAR. A solar measurement of time; mortality; space for repentance.
8) SH 176:7–20, 24
The primitive custom of taking no thought about food left the stomach and bowels free to act in obedience to nature, and gave the gospel a chance to be seen in its glorious effects upon the body. A ghastly array of diseases was not paraded before the imagination. There were fewer books on digestion and more “sermons in stones, and good in everything.” When the mechanism of the human mind gives place to the divine Mind, selfishness and sin, disease and death, will lose their foothold. Human fear of miasma would load with disease the air of Eden, and weigh down mankind with superimposed and conjectural evils. Mortal mind is the worst foe of the body, while divine Mind is its best friend. ... One disease is no more real than another. All disease is the result of education, and disease can carry its ill-effects no farther than mortal mind maps out the way. The human mind, not matter, is supposed to feel, suffer, enjoy. Hence decided types of acute disease are quite as ready to yield to Truth as the less distinct type and chronic form of disease. Truth handles the most malignant contagion with perfect assurance.
9) SH 227:21–26
Christian Science raises the standard of liberty and cries: “Follow me! Escape from the bondage of sickness, sin, and death!” Jesus marked out the way. Citizens of the world, accept the “glorious liberty of the children of God,” and be free! This is your divine right.
